Do Not Use My Blog as a Sales Lead
Saturday, April 26, 2008

I opened up my email today and while disregarding the blatant spam, I came across the following email:

Hi,

I was reading through your blog Software is Hardwork and noticed that you are a software developer. As a developer, I assume you are familiar with bug tracking and I was wondering if you would want to review our issue/big tracking software Issue Tracking Anywhere.

I see that you’ve been developing for some time and although there are many different bug tracking products on the market, I thought you may like to try out Issue Tracking Anywhere to see what it has to offer. Issue Tracking Anywhere is a web-based issue tracking system that we designed for issue/work item tracking, bug tracking, customer support and project management. For more information on the software, you can go to http://www.dynamsoft.com/Products/ITA_Overview.aspx.

Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in. I would be willing to set you up with a free hosting plan of Issue Tracking Anywhere if you would be willing to write a little mention/review on your blog!

I look forward to your response.

Have a good afternoon!

Best Regards,

Darlea

My only though was “Wow, how about that. Solicitation for a sale via my blog – economy must be really bad...” :)

LOL, dude, you probably shouldn't be that surprised. Once you're online, folks will try to get you to do reviews for books, tools, etc. Just one of the (sometimes beneficial) side effects of blogging.

Don't worry, be happy! :D
